Video: Pom Poms, ‘Gimme You’

Pom Poms — the collaboration between singer Marlene Gold and producer-multi-instrumentalist Billy Mohler — introduced themselves in 2015 with the retro charmer “Betty.” In announcing their full-length debut “Turn You Out,” they’ve turned both the noise and the sexy up to 11; their come-on of a single “Gimme You” is a bluesy chunk of popgazing, a starburst of guitar and snapping drums that feels like last night’s one drink too many.
The album, out May 12, is the culmination of work that began three years ago after Mohler spotted Gold at an acoustic session in Venice and the pair began jamming together. “Honestly Billy and I were just having fun being spontaneous and documenting it,” she says. “I’d bring my own personal experiences, covering the spectrum of emotions from yearning, loss, perseverance, sexuality, playfulness and just having a good time.” You, too, can project some of those things watching the projections in the video.
