With just a single EP to their credit, Oakland duo the Saxophones — Alexi Erenkov and Alison Alderdice, who are making their first Los Angeles appearance tonight — have already begun to make a name for themselves as purveyors of a unique, sparse romantic style. Theirs is a lovelorn sound, all gently plucked electric guitar paired with croony vocals that perfectly match the “my parents wedding photos”-style artwork. And, yes, there’s even a touch of sax.
The husband-and-wife duo, who today announced they have signed with U.K. indie label Full Time Hobby, have unveiled director Connor R. Burke’s video for “New Tradition,” which stars Brian Landis as a man seeking solace on the beaches near the Cape Henry Lighthouse on Chesapeake Bay.
