What the world needs now, Rachael Price said Tuesday night, is fewer walls and more bass solos. That was the spirit when Boston-birthed, Brooklyn-based Lake Street Dive visited the Theatre at Ace Hotel for a night of vibrant, ’60s-inspired soul-rock. The quartet performed a host of songs from their fifth album, “Side Pony,” released a year ago, including a raucous version of “Hell Yeah,” penned by bassist Bridget Kearney, who indeed had earlier answered singer Price’s call for a solo with some ripping on her stand-up bass. One of the highlights came when opener Joey Dosik joined the headliners onstage to sing and play saxophone on a cover of “What’s Going On;” another came during the acoustic rendition of George Michael’s “Faith,” three singers sharing a mic. Mike Calabrese cut loose with an old-school drum solo too.
