Young the Giant, Cold War Kids to christen FivePoint Amphitheatre in Irvine

Young the Giant, Cold War Kids and Joywave will play the first concert at the new FivePoint Amphitheatre on Irvine on Aug. 26.

The 12,000-capacity venue is located adjacent to Orange County Great Park, site of the former Marine Corps Air Station El Toro. The venue gained temporary approval this spring as a replacement for the razed Irvine Meadows facility.

“We’re thrilled and honored to be the first artists to perform at a brand new venue that undoubtedly will be a cultural beacon for the community that we grew up in,” Young the Giant frontman Sameer Gadhia said in a press release announcing the show.

Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. The first 500 will be available for $20, the rest for between $29.50 and $39.50.
