File under: The boys are back in town. Or in this case, back in business. Racquet Club is the new quartet featuring singer-guitarist Blair Shehan (The Jealous Sound, Knapsack), guitarist Sergie Loobkoff (Samiam, Knapsack), drummer Bob Penn (The Jealous Sound) and bassist Ian Smith. Their debut album is coming later this year via Rise Records, whose catalog includes both the Jealous Sound’s 2003 debut and 2012 “comeback” album, “A Gentle Reminder.” The new album, made with producer Alex Newport, includes the single “Blood on the Moon,” testament to the fact that the Jealous Sound’s sound — muscular, emo-tinged indie-rock — lives on. With Loopkoff’s guitar ringing and Penn characteristically relentless behind the kit, Shehan again engages with his earnest, tender/tough vocals. Racquet Club, at your service.
