After a slow build that saw the trio play live shows around Los Angeles for more than three years, Teleskopes released their debut single, “Criminal,” last fall. Today, the band — singer-bassist Fox Fagan, guitarist Pelle Hillstrom and drummer Jesper Kristensen — announced that their debut EP “Stereocilia” will be out on June 2. With it comes the new single “Crystal Clear,” a brooding, sprawling throwback to the atmospheric rock of the ’80s that is sure to give fans of the Cure and Depeche Mode a tingle. The band traces its roots to 2011, when Fagan, who had just moved to L.A. from Australia, met Hillstrom and Kristensen; there was chemistry, but all three guys were involved in other projects such as Modwheelmod, Forever Like Red, Abandoned Pools, Komox and UBYK. After honing their sound live, they adjourned to Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in 2014 to begin recording. And they’ve emerged with an expansive sound that abides the old saying “go big or go home.”
