New York’s Diet Cig brought their cherub fuzz-pop to the Echo on Thursday, delighting an equally cherub (the show was 16-and-older) crowd with songs from their debut “Swear I’m Good at This,” released in April. Frontwoman Alex Luciano was alight from the second Diet Cig took the stage, opening with a comment welcoming the crowd, deeming the venue as a “safe space” for all and politely asking the crowd not to mosh. With drummer Noah Bowman providing the backbone, Luciano kicked, flailed and cavorted all over the stage, with die-hard fans (those who had the top Diet Cig listens on Spotify) lining the front row after a pre-show meet-and-greet with the band. The duo is playing a special bonus gig today (6 p.m.) at Junior High (5656 Hollywood Blvd.).

Janelane and Lisa Prank opened the night.
