Tennis System — you know them, the nice shoegazing kids from down the block — have released another torrent of earsplitting yet melodic alt-rock. “Lackluster” is the trio’s first single for MDDN Co., the management company/studio/label group founded by Benji and Joel Madden of Good Charlotte. It’s also the first song from a forthcoming EP (due in August) from the threesome of singer-guitarist Matty Taylor, bassist Sam Glassberg and drummer Garren Orr. A punishing cry to be freed from a stifling relationship, “Lackluster” — the band’s second single (following last year’s “Here We Go”) since their 2014 full-length “Technicolour Blind,” — is a perfect excuse to dig out your old Swervedriver T-shirt. The release comes via a performance video directed by Jake Stark.
