Stream: Saro, ‘Sky Doesn’t Blue’

The new single from Saro is like driving a shiny new Mercedes-Benz to funeral — there’s no amount of slick production or sleek lines that can mitigate the melancholy. “There is no happy end / On that one thing I can depend / Time is killing all my friends,” the Los Angeles electro-pop marvel sings on “Sky Doesn’t Blue,” the first single since “In Loving Memory,” his 2016 EP executive-produced by Robin Hannibal. Saro (pronounced “sorrow”), the nom de tune of Evan Windom, again works with producer David Burris on the new song, from a to-be-titled EP due later this year. Between the palpable ache in his vocals and the skittering orchestral synths, Saro has succeeded where few could: He’s made “blue” an action verb.
