Dhani Harrison is going solo. The 38-year-old son of George Harrison has played in the band ThenewNo2, which released two albums and two EPs between 2006 and 2012 and played Coachella and Lollapalooza, joined Ben Harper and Joseph Arthur in Fistful of Mercy (one album in 2010) and has spent the past four years composing music for TV and film, including 2013’s “Beautiful Creatures” and 2014’s “Learning to Drive.” All that, he says, informs the music on “IN///PARALLEL,” his debut album arriving Oct. 8. On the catchy first single “All About Waiting,” he allows as how “I know all there is to know about waiting,” as the track gallops along on soulful background vocals and a shape-shifting sheen of synth toward the shouted chorus “It’s not like it used to be.” True, but only in some ways.
