► Singer-songwriter and former Guided By Voices member Tobin Sprout plays the Bootleg Thetaer in support of his latest album “The Universe and Me,” with long-running indie-rockers Elf Power (whose own new album “Twitching in Time” came out in May) opening.
► San Diego electronic rock duo Prayers play the Echoplex, with High Functioning Flesh and Night Club supporting.
► And indie trio AJR headline the Troubadour, with Johnny Balik opening.
