Sunstock Solar Festival 2017: Ra Ra Riot, Robert DeLong, Run River North and more

New York indie-rockers Ra Ra Riot join Robert DeLong, Run River North and Wild Cub at the top of the bill for the second annual Sunstock Solar Festival on Sept. 9 in downtown L.A.

The independent festival, the only event of its kind to be 100% solar-powered, announced the first phase of its lineup today.

The two-stage event boasts a strong crop of local bands on its second stage, including Freedom Fry, Bloodboy, the Fuzzy Crystals and festival hosts Trapdoor Social. More artists will be announced soon.

Sunstock, which will be held from 2 to 11 p.m. at the event space Magic Box LA (1933 S. Broadway), benefits the nonprofits GRID Alternatives, the Sierra Club, SoCal 350 Climate Action, Climate Hawks Vote, South Bay Clean Power, Food & Water Watch and Rootskeeper, all part of its overall mission to promote clean energy, sustainability and social justice.

Besides the music, there will be a “sustainable mixology bar” hosted by Robin Chopra, solar-powered light installations, organic food trucks, immersive art, workshops, games, sustainable vendors and social action engagement.

Tickets are $25 in advance ($30 at the door); $20 ($25) for students, seniors and military; and $12 ($17) for ages 16 and younger. They are available here.
