Echo Park Rising: The Buzz Bands LA Stage at Taix

L.A. art-punk quartet Sego put an exclamation point on Saturday night’s proceedings at Echo Park Rising, winding up the Buzz Bands LA Stage at Taix with a set of new and older songs.
The big late crowd (there was a line to get into Taix after about 9:30) saw both Sego and Coachella Valley quartet YIP YOPS bust out their own light shows for their bumping dance sets.
It was a long and rewarding day in Taix’s Champagne Room, with BRAEVES, Haunted Summer, the Marias, Lone Kodiak, Girlyboi, Los Angeles Police Department, NONA and Louis Schefano preceding Sego and YIP YOPS. With a couple of exceptions, most the music heard was from forthcoming releases. DJ Bumbaclot spun between sets, with attendees dropping bills in his tip jar — the proceeds from which went to the Southern Poverty Law Center.
