Flying Lotus will perform his ballyhooed new 3D show on two nights with Thundercat as part of the diverse lineup announced for October’s Los Angeles debut of the Red Bull Music Academy.

The festival will feature talks, concerts and club nights at various locations in the Southland — many of the them nontraditional — and the debut of Open Beta, a temporary multimedia performance space that’s the brainchild of visual artist Taran Allen.

Some of the nighlights figure to be: St. Vincent’s collaboration with Willo Perron at Paramount Studios’ New York backlot; the reunion of Uncle Jamm’s Army (Ice-T, Egyptian Lover and Arabian Prince) at the now-defunct Skateland USA in Compton; Dâm-Funk doing a live performance on Red Bull Radio; Japanese artist Ryoji Ikeda creating the world’s largest synth orchestra, synchronized with 100 automobile sound systems, in a parking garage in downtown L.A.; and Todo Es Metal, with Mexican metal bands and Latinx-led groups at the Los Angeles Theatre.

Full schedule below.

Tickets for some of the series’ events go on sale at noon today here.
