BONES are are not to be trifled with. A little hard to google, maybe, but other than that, unf*ckwithable. The U.K. duo of Carmen Vandenberg and Rosie Bones make brash, heavy punk rock with confrontational lyrics, hammered home with a sneer and a smile. If their music hurts, well, it’s because the truth often does. Best of all, after igniting crowds with a handful of club shows around L.A. in past months (Vandenberg shredding on guitar, Bones vocally), they’ve decided to move here.

It wasn’t for the model life, as their new video for the industrial scorcher “Beautiful Is Boring” attests. The song, a highlight of their live set, is “about embracing your quirks and celebrating your imperfections,” they say. Director Alex Warren’s (NSFW) video for the song flips the script on rock band adulation, as the duo play a club show to a group of raging fanboys. “We are so used to seeing girls screaming at boys in bands so we wanted to flip the gender role,” Rosie Bones. “It’s rewarding to see what it feels like from the other side.”

The duo, who are now out on tour with Highly Suspect (no L.A. dates right now), collaborated (in both co-writing and playing capacities) with legendary guitarist Jeff Beck on his 2016 album “Loud Hailer.” If you catch them live, BONES will play a song titled “Girls Can’t Play Guitar,” which will blow your hair back, as well as make you want to punch unnamed dude who once told Vandenberg that.
