Annie Clark’s new album as St. Vincent is titled “Masseduction” (out this Friday), pronounced “mass seduction,” and there was plenty of that going on Saturday night on the New York street backlot at Paramount Pictures Studios, where the 35-year-old artist unveiled her new stage presentation.
The splashy “St. Vincent: Fear The Future” live show is a collaboration with director/designer Willo Perron, and Saturday’s premiere (part of the month-long Red Bull Music Academy’s L.A. festival) saw her performing onstage alone in front of colorful video narratives. She started the show with selections from her first four albums, took a break for a wardrobe change, then reemerged to perform “Masseduction” in its entirety.
St. Vincent’s “Fear the Future” tour kicks off Oct. 17 in London.
