► Sparks headline the El Rey Theatre behind “Hippopotamus,” their first album in eight years. The Sewing Sisters open.
► Day 2 of Desert Daze brings Iggy Pop, Sleep, John Cale, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard and more to the Institute of Mentalphysics in Joshua Tree.
► Flying Lotus and Thundercat team up for a big night on the Fairbanks Lawn at Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
► Hope Sandoval & the Warm Inventions headline the Fonda Theatre, supported by Peaking Lights.
► It’s the second of four nights with Depeche Mode and Warpaint at the Hollywood Bowl.
► Courtney Barnett & Kurt Vile play the Cathedral Sanctuary at Immanuel Presbyterian in support of their new collaborative album “Lotta Sea Lice.”

► The Budos Band get soulful at the Echoplex, joined by Here Lies Man.

► NYC instrumental fusion outfit TAUK headline the Teragram Ballroom behind their latest album “Sir Nebula.”
