Ears Wide Open: Parting Lines

When local folk-rock faves Tall Tales and the Silver Lining announced their dissolution in mid-2016, they promised to seek “new horizons.” One of them has now been revealed — the first music from Parting Lines. The project is masterminded by Tall Tales’ Tim Ramsey and Trevor Beld Jimenez, who also have played with the likes of Vetiver, Little Wings and Dios. They released their first official single today, “Black Tint Sunset,” a big-hearted West Coast anthem made in Ramsey’s basement studio. Everything that made their old band so likable is here again: the undulating melody, the earnest narration, the twinkling of keyboards like light through the trees on that new horizon. Lest your cynicism has not been completely exorcised by the 3-minute mark, there’s an old-school solo at the end. Smile more.
