Last month, when Sub Pop announced the signing of L.A. trio Moaning, there wasn’t any music to share beyond the band’s crazy, wonderful video from 2015. Today there’s a new song, “Don’t Go,” which arrived via a chaotic black-and-white video made by Michael Schmelling. The video merely shows the band — Sean Solomon, Pascal Stevenson and Andrew MacKelvie, all of whom paid their dues in the DIY scene with Moses Campbell — along with some friends goofing off in a white room. The song, though. It’s a spacious and dark post-punk rager that’s the lead track on their debut album, “Moaning.” The album, made with producer Alex Newport (whose work includes At the Drive-In, the Mars Volta, Death Cab for Cutie and Bloc Party, as well as L.A. artists such as LA Font, Racquet Club and Bleached), is out March 2.
