With their second full-length “Blend Inn” coming in February, Hockey Dad — the duo of Billy Fleming and Zach Stephenson — came to the Bootleg on a Sunday night to finish up their current tour in the U.S. before returning home to Australia. Despite a few technical hiccups, Hockey Dad woke up the sleepy crowd with their high-energy surf-punk. A few fans from Australia were in the crowd, and came on stage multiple times to take part in a “shoey.” The Aussie drinking ritual inspired many and was performed a number of times throughout their set, almost always followed by a rather painful looking stage-dive back into the crowd. After a set of both old and new songs, Hockey Dad finished the show accompanied by numerous dancing audience members up on the stage. SoCal bands Jurassic Shark and The High Curbs opened up the show.
