Ears Wide Open: The Habits

“Feeling It,” the first single from L.A. trio the Habits, does a delicate dance between indie-pop and folk-rock, building from a jaunty acoustic guitar to a sleek chorus of falsetto harmonies, whoa-oh-ohs trailing in the wake. It’s a tuneful combination of both formulas by the threesome, who’ve paid their dues in 2016 and ’17 by playing just about every L.A. club on the map.
The San Pedro-bred band — Wolf Bradley, Chance Famighetti and Andrew Macatrao — previously did business as 20 Eyes, releasing a handful of singles in 2014 and ’15. Songwriter Bradley actually got his start very young, inspired to take up music in part by dancer Misty Copeland, the first African-American soloist in the American Ballet Theatre, who was mentored by his mother, San Pedro City Ballet’s Cindy Bradley.
The catchy new single dials into that giddy feeling of a new relationship. “It’s about finding someone that excites you,” Bradley told We Found New Music, where the song premiered, “keeps you on your toes, and letting the darker side of romance have its fun.”
