A trio of hard-rockin’ trios brought the Teragram Ballroom to life on Tuesday night, capped by an explosive performance by Canadian punk band METZ, touring in support of their new album “Strange Peace.” The trio — singer-guitarist Alex Edkins, drummer Hayden Menzies and bassist Chris Slorach — ripped through a punishing set of their noise-rock amid insistent strobes and much thrashing, by band and fans alike.
They were preceded by their new Sub Pop labelmates Moaning, the L.A. outfit whose debut album will arrive March 2. During their set of dark, emotional post-punk, they paused to thank the many friends and family who came to the show. Prettiest Eyes got the crowd moving early with their catchy mixture of sludgy punk and dancing rock.
