Moon Honey’s headlining date Thursday at the Teragram Ballroom wasn’t too unlike the Echo Park residency they did this summer. Jess Joy, in her handmade headdress and wardrobe, soared vocally over Andrew Martin’s prog-glam-metal guitar licks. Their stellar cast of backing players negotiated the complexities of the music with aplomb. There was even a harp. Drawing a modest crowd of scene regulars, this Moon Honey show was simply in a larger room, beautifully amplifying their sonic mystique. Their set included a few tracks off the album expected to arrive in 2018, including “Betta Fish,” and ended with a revved-up cover of the Talking Heads’ “Once in a Lifetime.”

Kera & the Lesbians preceded the headliners with a smashing (and guitar-smashing) set, and, with two dancers in tow, Veronica Bianqui kicked off the night.
