New L.A. duo Joyeur say their name refers to “a person who gets off watching others engage in a joyful activity.” Their first single “Dig,” though, invites participation — it’s a gritty banger propelled by in-your-face bass, handclaps and no small amount of moxie. “Dig” is a song about love, but the all-in, dangerous variety. As the duo says, “the ride-or-die, go-down-in-flames, Bonnie and Clyde-kind of love.”

Joyeur, who first turned up on Soundcloud last year with a Kendrick Lamar cover, is the collaboration between producer Anna Feller and singer-songwriter Joelle Corey, who met in a blind writing session and, inspired by what they call a “femme-fatale underdog complex,” haven’t separated since. “Funny enough,” Corey says, “that very week I had booked a show as a band, but didn’t actually have a band yet. Like a godsend, Anna arrived. The rest is history — sweaty, bloody history.”
