“I also listen to a lot of Top 40 hip-hop/trap, and regularly attend L.A.’s Low End Theory club,” says Matthew “Matthewdavid” McQueen. While he’s been putting out a lot of ambient music, his own and by others, McQueen hasn’t been neglecting his passion for producing experimental beats. Jan. 19 will see the release of “Time Flying Beats,” a 34-minute, 15-track cassette on his label Leaving Records. Debuted during a Low End Theory set, first single “Time Flying” features a collage of samples, particularly centered around the final line of Tears For Fears’ “Head Over Heels.”
