While everyone else was on vacation between Christmas and New Year’s, your friendly neighborhood dream-pop band Brett were releasing yet another in a long line of lush singles. “Doll” is the latest from the D.C. expatriates helmed by songwriter Mick Coogan, who since 2014 have released two albums and a handful of EPs. More than their past two EPs — last year’s “Mustangs” and 2016’s “Die Young,” with its killer title track and the single “California Nights” — Brett tilt toward bittersweet, British-flavored new wave (think: New Order) on the new single. Another new track, “Emperor Tho,” indulges those Anglophile tendencies too, topped by a gravity-defying chorus. Both songs will appear on Brett’s next EP, “Half,” due in March via 10K Islands.
