Garbage’s Shirley Manson, Jay Som and Kristin Kontrol will be joined by the likes of Moon Honey, Lauren Ruth Ward, Pinky Pinky and Amber Coffman at the third annual GIRLSCHOOL, the female-powered festival that goes off over three nights, Feb. 2-4, at the Bootleg Theater.
Manson was a featured speaker last year; this year Carrie Brownstein will be featured in the keynote conversation.
The musical lineup also features Boyfriend, Marian Mereba, Soccer Mommy, Faarrow, Low Leaf, Akua, A.W., Mary Lattimore, Nick & Navi, Drum & Lace, Desi Mo, Chelsea Jade, POLARTROPICA and DJ Zuri Adia, with DJ sets from Rituals of Mine and Kim & The Created. In addition, there will be poetry readings, a social media activism workshop, a music industry panel and a songwriting workshop hosted by MUNA.
Conceived by Anna Bulbrook (of the Airborne Toxic Event, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros and the Bulls) as a response to rock music’s boys-club stature, GIRLSCHOOL is now in its third year. Proceeds will benefit WriteGirl.
A three-day general-admission pass is $60 and available here.
