She may not be a household name in the U.S., but singer-songwriter Jen Cloher showed a packed house at the Echo on Tuesday night why she’s one of the leading lights of the Melbourne indie scene. After fellow Australian Mia Dyson opened the show, Cloher raced through an hour-plus of rock, starting with five songs from her self-titled 2017 album. With her partner Courtney Barnett playing guitar and contributing backing vocals and Dyson joining in as well, Cloher played a two-song encore, including her 2009 song “Fear Is Like a Forest,” which was covered by Barnett and Kurt Vile on the duo’s collaborative album “Lotta Sea Lice.”
Setlist: Regional Echo, Forgot Myself, Shoegazers, Sensory Memory, Analysis Paralysis, Mount Beauty, Stone Age Brain, Great Australian Bite, Needle In The Hay, Strong Woman. Encore: Fear Is Like A Forest, Name In Lights.
