Former Faces, the psych-rock vision of Ryan Parmenter, debuted last year with the EP “Swimming in Circles,” a dreamy gem that helped the singer-songwriter grow the project into a full band with David Lee, Brian Blake and Abraham Kim. The quartet returns this week with the reflective indie-rocker “Forc# Fi#lds” — and the news that their debut full-length, “Foreign Nature,” will be out April 5.

The song, Parmenter says, is “about reconciling the past and opening up to the future. It’s about letting your guard down and being wide awake to new relationships, ideas, and endeavors.” And his video for the tune uses imagery originally featured in Gerald McDermott’s 1966 animated short, “Sun Flight: the Myth of Daedalus and His Son, Icarus.” Says Parmenter: “Upon first viewing, I became an instant fan of McDermott’s unique style. Tailoring his brilliant vision of the classic myth to our song was an honor.” The message is clear: Be open to the future, but don’t fly too close to the sun.
