The Smashing Pumpkins — in an almost-all-original lineup — today announced a 36-date summer tour that will highlight material from their 2000-and-before albums. Called the Shiny And Oh So Bright Tour, it stops at the Forum on Aug. 30.
It’s the first tour in nearly 20 years to feature founding members Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin and James Iha. Jeff Schroeder, a Pumpkins staple since 2007, will also join in, giving the band a three-guitar assault.
In a statement, Corgan said: “Some 30 years ago, as the Smashing Pumpkins, James Iha and I began a musical journey in the cramped rear bedroom of my father’s house. And so it’s magic to me that we’re able to coalesce once more around the incredible Jimmy Chamberlin, to celebrate those songs we’ve made together.”
The tour won’t be including founding bassist D’arcy Wretzky, whose feud with Corgan escalated in recent days.
