Video: Oddnesse, ‘Are You Down’

“Are You Down” was the fourth of five singles released in 2017 by Oddnesse, the musical moniker of Rebeca Arango, and as she said when the song came out last August, it’s about taking things slow, in general. Slow is often good, especially if you’re unsure of a destination — which brings to director Thaddeus Ruzicka’s rather spectacular and decidedly mind-bending video for “Are You Down.” Where on earth is she? Well, probably not on earth, for one thing. She’s “lost in an inter-dimensional dream prism,” we’re told. Considering the languid ebb and flow of the song, it makes for quite a juxtaposition when she is transported through the spectrum of scenarios. But we’re down.
