Thousands streamed to Chinatown in downtown L.A. on Saturday to celebrate the Year of the Dog, taking in the 119th annual Golden Dragon Parade before enjoying post-parade activities as part of the Chinese New Year Festival. Besides the cultural performances, kids stuff and ubiquitous confetti cannons, there was music from six L.A. artists on the Live Music Stage. Sleep State kicked it off with a set of catchy indie-rock, followed by ZHAO’s swooning pop and Nicole Kiki Jaffe’s earnest pop-soul. San Bernardino trio Royaljag then turned up the good vibrations with their melody- and harmony-rich “chameleon pop.” Faunavision injected some slick, guitar-strafed psychedelic soul into the night before Dana and the Wolf  put an exclamation point on the night with a set of sharp and sharp-tongued hip-hop/pop.
