Ears Wide Open: Altar Egos

The new year brought a new name for the members of L.A. four-piece Mothdrops, who have reinvented themselves as Altar Egos. The quartet’s debut single “Mate in Check” isn’t a far cry from the two songs they released under their previous name — liquid light show-worthy psychedelic rock with celestial guitars that blast through the atmosphere interrupted only by a minute-and-a-half space walk. The band (Brendan Snyder, Jake Stein, Andrew Giurgiun and Keveen Baudoin) are plotting the release of their debut EP in April.
