Vanessa Wheeler was formerly one-half of the Santa Cruz duo LeoLeo before setting off on her own as VAVÁ. Well, not exactly on her own, as her guitar often seems to have a life of its own. She’s been called a guitar virtuoso, and her Instagram is filled with clips of her demonstrating her avant stylings.
She’s been gaining visibility since the February release of her debut EP, “The Other Side.” Now, in honor of her 1000th Instagram post, VAVÁ has released a video of a new song, “Two Hearts.” Directed by Caleb Knueven and featuring bassist/producer Francisco Ojeda, the video turns Wheeler’s living room into a wondrous place of sweet grooves, soulful vocals and nifty DIY lights. A version of the song will appear on a VAVÁ full-length coming later this year.
