When we last looked in on Joey Dosik, he was working on making his basketball jump shot as silky-smooth as his singing voice and releasing a video and EP straight outta “Hoosiers.” After you’ve made a playoffs-worthy EP and assisted on the “Game Winner,” though, what do you do for your next act?
How about serving up a love feast?
Dosik today unveiled the appetizer from his full-length debut “Inside Voice,” out Aug. 24 via Secretly Canadian and featuring contributions from Moses Sumney, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, Mocky, Coco O, Theo Katzman and others. The title track is good ol’ classic baby-making soul the likes of which probably contributed substantially to the population boom in the 1970s. The singer-songwriter describes the song’s concept as “deep, sexual, but also kind of silly” — yet not half as delightfully silly as director Carlos Lopez Estrada’s video, which stars a couple dining at “Joey’s Ristorante Italiano.”
So it turns out that true love is a dish best served warm, after all.
