Video: Moaning, ‘Misheard’

“Misheard” is an exercise in emotional noise, combining Sean Solomon’s subdued stony vocal delivery of feelings with massively noisy outburts shared between the guitarist and bandmates Pascal Stevenson and Andrew MacKelvie. The song comes from Moaning‘s March 2-released, self-titled debut on Sub Pop, produced by Alex Newport (At The Drive-In, Melvins and more). The “Misheard” video, directed by Steven Smith, takes a conceptual, sculptural approach to insides, things that look like organs but they’re twisted and transformed into art. The louder parts of the song are matched with frenetic flashes of the objects and, naturally, there’s some creepy nightmare faces to deliver the lyrics.
