The sixth annual Genius Loci — the south-of-the-border “conscious” festival that melds electronic music, yoga and surfing — goes off this weekend with a strong female bent to its lineup.

The festival, hosted by a pair of Angelenos, Henry Pope and Eduardo Loboman, will feature TOKiMONSTA, Kim Ann Foxman, Tara Brooks and the duo KMLN atop the bill for a four-day run starting Thursday at Punta Cabras beach south of Ensenada.

“This year is really about two things.” festival co-founder Pope says. “We want to bring together a wide lineup of amazing music, but we also want to showcase female headliners as a living tribute to all the bad-ass musicians who ever had to answer antiquated interview questions about ‘what it’s like to be a girl in the music industry.’ This year Genius Loci is here to reset the status quo. We’re here to prove the future is female.”

The bill also features Marques Wyatt, Lonely Boy, Jeremy Sole, Zach Walker, XLR8R, John Wander, Saand and Massio, along with Pope, Loboman and others.

Tickets are still available here.
