Ruby Haunt, created by childhood friends Wyatt Ininns and Victor Pakpour, started out as a long-distance project. When they began making music, the partners lived in Los Angeles and Portland, respectively, exchanging ideas and songs through email. Singer-songwriter Ininns and composer-producer Pakpour both live in L.A. now (though they probably still email each other when the traffic is bad) and are embarking on the next chapter, after having released three EPs and a full-length starting in 2015. Theirs is a world of lush, chill music, and they’ve dialed in their sound for their forthcoming album “Blue Hour.” The melodies on their single “Darling” ebb and flow with ethereal synths, semi-sweet lyrics and a nostalgic energy. Ruby Haunt’s music ambient dream-pop in the vein of early Wild Nothing or quiet Beach House — best served lying on your bed or driving home at night.
