Fresh off a summer touring with Prophets of Rage, the ever-prolific Tom Morello has a new album in the hopper. Due for release Oct. 12, “The Atlas Underground” is a collaborative effort, featuring a multitude of artists across the music spectrum.
Not to be confused with his The Nightwatchman acoustic-flavored releases, this album has a distinctly modern and electronic feel to it. The album’s lead single, “We Don’t Need You,” features Chicago rapper Vic Mensa delivering a scorching political verse over Morello’s familiar turntable-inspired wah-wah pedal riffing. Killer Mike, Big Boi, Bassnectar, Portugal. the Man, Whethan, K. Flay, Marcus Mumford, Pretty Lights, Gary Clark Jr., Steve Aoki, Knife Party, Leikeli47, GZA, and RZA are among the artists Morello has invited along this musical journey.
