“Mothers” builds upon the calmly ominous sonic world that previous single “Who’s Gonna Stop Us” delivered, another haunting track about the dark side of humanity from Steady Holiday‘s new album, “Nobody’s Watching,” coming out Aug. 24 on Barsuk Records. Churning like a quiet, menacing storm, “Mothers” concerns a character that only wants to give and help if they get credit and everyone will know and praise. Dre Babinski says, “Some have a hard time distinguishing compassion from the slippery slope of altruism. This character is one of them, hesitant to ‘give an inch,’ anticipating what will be asked of her next. Maybe it’s more convenient to keep the door locked next time.”
