Singer-songwriter Cornelia Murr portrays the princess and a toad plays the frog in the new video for “Who Am I to Tell You,” a twist on the girl-kisses-amphibian fairytale(s). The subtle message here, of course, is “Who needs a stinkin’ prince anyway?” and the duo of Murr and collaborator Lola Kirke pull it off with aplomb.

The song, from Murr’s debut album “Lake Tear of the Clouds” (produced by My Morning Jacket’s Jim James, it came out in July) was co-written by Kirke, the actress/songwriter who released her own debut album “Heart Heads West.” on Aug. 10, after the pair had a heart-to-heart about relationship dynamics. Kirke directed the video, which was filmed in woodsy upstate New York. The toad, who was not harmed in the making of the video, declined to confirm whether it was his first kiss.
