A splendid Saturday in the park was soundtracked by many shades of pop music at the 16th annual Tarfest at the La Brea Tar Pits Park.

Freedom Fry capped the afternoon with a set of folk-pop mostly from their album “Classic,” following L.A. ensemble WILD buoyant, gang-vocal-styled pop. Caught a Ghost played a set of daneable soul starring main man Jesse Nolan, a new bassist and backup vocalists Jasmine Jamison and Jazmen Safina. Smoke Season’s sultry made the afternoon sun feel even hotter, and Jane Holiday kicked off Tarfest with the edgiest set of the day.
