Sunstock Solar Festival to return Oct. 20; Cayucas to headline

Brother duo Cayucas (who just released a new single and have an album on the way in 2019) will headline the third annual Sunstock Solar Festival — the only music fest powered entirely by the sun.

Sunstock will move to its third location in three years — it’ll be staged as a street fair on Gramercy Place between Hollywood Boulevard and Franklin Avenue in Hollywood. The date is Saturday, Oct. 20. The event donates its profits to charitable solar installations (in the past, Homeboy Industries and A Safe Place For Youth).

This year’s event, which runs from 3 to 11 p.m., is free, but the suggested donation is $15 and proceeds go to the local charity GRID Alternatives.

The event is mounted by the L.A. indie-rock band Trapdoor Social, which tours towing a solar-powered generator to do eco-friendly concerts.

Joining Cayucas on the bill are Karmic, Top Shelf Brass, Kinney, El Manaña, the Valley Hush and One Night Five — and it also includes Denver quartet the Epilogues, who are reuniting after a two-year hiatus.

Full details of the event have not officially been announced, but it will include art installations, food trucks, a beer garden and various eco-friendly activations.
