Each of the tracks off Yoke Lore’s third EP, “Absolutes” sound like they’d be on heavy rotation on a popular radio station. The songs are echoing with hope, tying in together the sounds of M83 and Cage The Elephant. The five-song EP, which came out in July, is the work of Brooklyn singer-songwriter Adrian Galvin, formerly of Walk The Moon and Yellerkin, who weaves together synth, banjo, vocals and sleek production with often-ethereal results.

The EP’s opener, “Fake You,” with its aerial, echoing vocals and heavy drum on beats two and four, embodies the theme of the EP: trying to avoid thinking in black-and-white and reconciling reality with one’s own perceptions. “You’re the broken wall I wail to / I’ll shatter with the real you no matter how fake you are,” Galvin sings. “Cut and Run” has a rhythmic, higher pitched vocal part, with a nicely syncopated chorus. The clap machine gives it a “listening from the amphitheater” kind of vibe, and the high, wavy synth that comes in and out is a pop of the unexpected. An ode to Galvin’s “ride-or-die, ” “Ride” is the heavy-hitter of the EP. The sound fills out with the addition of piano, and the chorus, “I won’t wait another day,” has a catchy upward repetition.
