► The Milk Carton Kids headline the Theatre at Ace Hotel in support of their album “All the Things That I Did and All the Things That I Didn’t Do” [see the Buzz Bands LA interview]. The Barr Brothers open the night.
► The legendary Joni Mitchell is saluted at JONI 75: A Birthday Celebration at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. The first of the two-night event features James Taylor, Brandi Carlile, Glen Hansard, Emmylou Harris, Norah Jones, Chaka Khan, Diana Krall, Kris Kristofferson, Los Lobos, Graham Nash, Seal and Rufus Wainwright.
► Welsh indie-pop band Los Campesinos!, who this summer added a rarities collection to their six-album catalog, play the Echoplex, with Illuminati Hotties opening.
► The Bad Dreamers celebrate the release of their album “Songs About People Including Myself” with a show at the Satellite, joined by Cyrus Reynolds and YVR.
► Colyer celebrates the release of his EP “Beachwood Dr.” on a big night at the Lodge Room — the lineup includes Fiona Grey, Dan Sadin, Talker, the Guest & the Host and Devon Gilfillian.
► Dirty Projectors do the first of their three-night mini-residency at Zebulon, with Pavo Pavo opening.
► And Brooklyn’s Rubblebucket visit the Teragram Ballroom in support of their latest album “Sun Machine,” with Diet Cig and Toth supporting.
