In support of their latest album “White Is Relic/Irrealis Mood,” of Montreal swept through the Fonda Theater on Thursday night as part of their ongoing fall tour of North America. The relatively small crowd was brought to life when Kevin Barnes and his band came on stage and provided their style of psychedelic indie-pop. Throughout the night, the music was backed by colorful theatrics, multiple costume changes and synchronized dancing between Barnes and a few costumed back-up dancers. Whether he was reaching out to grab the hand of an adoring fan or striking a pose to punctuate the end of a song, Barnes was in full effect, and the crowd loved it.
Reptaliens (Portland) opened the show with their dreamy and atmospheric tunes, also accompanied by numerous costumes and masks.
