CATSIGNS is the Costa Mesa quartet helmed by Anthony Braun Perry, a onetime member of the Growlers, TRMRS and Tomorrows Tulips. With guitarist Michael Roth, bassist Albert Navarro and drummer Max Royer, singer-guitarist Perry has been working on the foursome’s debut full-length, “The Fine & Mellow.”

The first single certainly suits the title. “Smokin’ the Clouds,” released digitally today and out as a limited-edition 7-inch from L.A.’s Pop Cautious Records, follows a string of amiably shambolic tunes CATSIGNS has teased over the past couple of years on Soundcloud. Here, CATSIGNS gives you a song for when you’re totally baked, lying face up on a playground carousel, turning slowly round and round and reading deep meaning into the cumulus formations overhead. Feel better, sing whoo-hoo-hoo.
