Stream: Deerhunter, ‘Element’

Deerhunter will release their eighth full-length “Why Hasn’t Everything Already Disappeared?” on Jan. 18, an album the band calls “a science fiction album about the present.” Co-produced by Cate LeBon and Ben H. Allen III (who with Tim Presley and Ian Horrocks appear on the record), along with Ben Etter and the band, it was made at various locales including Marfa Recording in Texas.

There’s a distinctive warmth in the first two songs — including “Element,” released today, which main man Bradford Cox “elegy for ecology (a landscape done in toxic watercolors).”
