With their stage set up as a comfortable living room, the Internet brought home their “Hive Mind” tour on Wednesday night and made the packed Palladium feel like it was one huge house show. Led by Sydney Bennet (Syd), with Steve Lacy on guitar, Matthew Martin on keys, Patrick Paige II on bass and Christopher Smith on drums, the Internet offered up an expertly paced setlist to their hometown show.

They started out with high energy before flowing into the slow and groovy, then mixing in a slew of emotional and heartfelt love songs, before closing out the show “with a bang,” as Syd said they would earlier on. Conversation with the crowd was a constant in between songs, as Syd called out to the L.A. natives in the audience (then giving a specific shout-out to Hamilton High), talked with couples in the crowd about how long they have been together and hyped the crowd to participate on the “You. Fucked. Up.” lines in “Just Sayin.” “We all got exes,” he said, “I need that energy.” After a quick champagne toast to the tour, album, band and, of course, Los Angeles, the Internet jumped into their last song. As their set ended, so did the tour, and in celebration they took apart the living room, tossing couch cushions and throw pillows into the crowd.

After appearing as the special guest on the entire Hive Mind tour, the show was opened by Moonchild, a neo-soul jazz group also from Los Angeles.
