News bits: Bikini Kill, Jawbox, Bryan Ferry, Burger Boogaloo, Natural History Museum

■ Dept. of What Year Is This Anyway?: Riot girrrl pioneers Bikini Kill and post-hardcore legends Jawbox each have scheduled reunion tours.
Kathleen Hanna, Tobi Vail, and Kathi Wilcox (joined by guitarist Erica Dawn Lyle) reunite for their first full Bikini Kill shows since 1997. The torchbearers of the feminist punk movement will play April 25 at the Palladium (tickets on sale Friday). Jawbox’s first tour in more than two decades brings them to the Regent Theater on July 13 (tickets on sale Friday).
■ Soon-to-be-Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Bryan Ferry will celebrate the classic 1982 Roxy Music album “Avalon” on a tour that brings him to the Greek Theatre on Aug. 29 (tickets on sale Friday).
■ The lineup has been announced for the 10th anniversary Burger Boogaloo festival in Oakland’s Mosswood Park on July 6-7. The Jesus and Mary Chain headline, joined by the Scientists, Shannon and the Clams, Sheer Mag, Dead Boys, Amyl and the Sniffers and more. John Waters hosts. Tickets.
■ Bathe with Jónsi: The Natural History Museum will host the multi-discipline cultural event Night of Ideas on Feb. 1, a joint effort with the French Embassy’s Cultural Services. The evening’s fare includes a live “Liminal Soundbath” in the North American Mammal Hall with Jónsi of Sigur Rós, Alex Somers and Paul Corley. Also: a performance about climate change by Los Angeles Baroque, led by seismologist Dr. Lucy Jones; a vegan fashion show organized by Emmanuelle Rienda and Le Frenchlab to kick off Vegan Fashion Week; screenings of French films; and music from DJ Bobby French and DJ Mr. Swift. Among the night’s speakers and panelists are acting Paris Mayor Christophe Girard, architect Kulapat Yantrasast, President of the French National Museum of Natural History Bruno David and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Robert Lempert.
The Museum’s popular First Fridays series, which annually features music curated by Spaceland Presents along with other themed NHM offerings, will kick off in March. Dates are March 1, April 5, May 3 and June 7.
